Here in California, we’re having the driest year since 1976…no rain for 45 consecutive days. Not even humidity! But much of the country is experiencing the worst winter since the late 1990’s. Seems terribly unfair that we can’t somehow alter our weather patterns so that California gets the water is so desperately needs…and that we could send some of our wonderful, warm weather to the eastern folks. Out here, even the Canadian geese are confused by the strange weather…their migration to the south seems to have stalled in the fields that surround our little town. We normally hear the geese overhead in late September, but this year it was after Christmas before I heard them talking to each other on their way to southern California. Have to admit that I’m enjoying having them pause to visit with us for a while…the sound of their cries overhead never fails to lift my spirits and gladden my heart.
In any event, this recipe caught my fancy this morning…I’m going to prepare it just as I would if it was freezing outside (a rare occurrence where I live!) and serve it with grated cheese and crumbled tortilla chips. A bottle of Corona wouldn’t be out of the question, either ;o)
PS…don’t know about you, but I’m thinking of this recipe as a pattern for a lovely gathering of like-minded knitters!
