Whooo hoooo! I finally have all the pieces of the SPS (Second Purple Sweater, for those of you who are just tuning in) finished!!! I have to put it together so I can pick up and knit the band around the fronts, but I’m definitely on the downhill side of this project…..at last. I’ll bet you’re as happy as I am that I’ll soon move on to other colors of yarn!
Speaking of yarn…and thereby hangs a tail (pun intended). Yesterday I was digging (think archeological excavation) around in my “craft” closet to find a couple of sort-of-finished quilts that I started to hand-quilt but have been not working on for the past two decades (actually only one of them is 20 years’ old—the other is closer to 12–I have no shame!), I found all kinds of other UFOs that I’ve been thinking about but didn’t know where they were. It was like my birthday! I pulled out a couple of half-finished baby sweaters (my grandkids are in junior high and college now) and two sweater-coats I’d made a good beginning on and then lost track of when I moved from my house to my little snuggery here in the Sacramento Delta. I found three different sizes of knitting needles I knew I had, but had replaced because I couldn’t find them….does that ever happen to you? Don’t you just hate it when you find them? Anyone need some old-fashioned size 8s? I think I must have at least six or seven pair of them, plus circular needles, bamboo needles, acrylic needles, titanium needles…I have a LOT of needles, but then, I have a LOT of UFOs to work on. I still want to make all of them…so many projects, so little time!
A new old friend told me the other day that if I spend 30 minutes a day working on a project that it’ll be finished in no time. She also suggested that I make a list of 10 things I want to complete, just 10 (at a time) and not all difficult-to-reach goals (like finishing my quilts). Such good advice! I’ve already spent my 30 minutes today finishing the second sleeve of the SPS. Tomorrow I’ll put it all together…and the next day I can begin work on the neck band. I’m off and running!
(Am still working on my list of 10–will post updates.)
See you all next week…with more “tails” from my “craft” closet. (I still have a lot of excavating to do and it has a LOT of other nifty supplies in there that aren’t yarn!)
