I haven’t written in any of my blogs for a week. Busy with homework and coping with all I am learning about being old. Then today I turn 65, so I am officially OLD. :o( ‘Nuff said on that subject!
I have about six inches to go on the back of the second purple sweater…..with the 2 fronts and the sleeves to look forward to. I’m going to have to order more yarn. I calculated what it will take for the rest of the sweater based on how much yarn just the back has eaten up. I’ll need 2.25 skeins more than I have….which means 3 skeins more. At least my worries about joining in the new yarn have been in vain….I knitted in the first of the new yarn last night and if I didn’t have the knot (on the outside edge of the piece…more about knots in a few minutes) I wouldn’t be able to tell the difference. There really is no discernible change in the color. I am more confident now about ordering yarn that will be from yet another dye-lot. The one thing that irritates me is knowing that I’ll still have the better part of a skein left when I finish this sweater. There will be NO third purple sweater! But someone will be getting a purple scarf for Christmas this year! ;o)
There is a wonderful YouTube video about joining yarn invisibly. I’ve tried it and it works so well I’m amazed how it doesn’t show in the texture of the knitting. The tutorial is easy to follow…tune in when you have a couple of minutes and need to join two ends of yarn.
The photo I’m sharing with you this week is one I really like and it’s appropriate since I am now an official “crone” (though I prefer the term “wise woman”) The artist, Kristen Schwartz is so talented. I’m hoping to see more of her work and I’ll share it with you when I do.
