I’m surprised that I haven’t become tired of working with purple yarn. But I’m not…this is such a pretty shade of purple and the yarn is a joy to work with. It’s Encore, knitting worsted weight yarn by Plymouth Yarn. It’s 75% acrylic and 25% wool so it’s washable and dry-able (according to the label!).
I like to knit year around, not just in the colder months, which is fortunate because here in California this year we seem to have gone through Spring without passing GO and are already in the midst of Summer and hot, dry days. I have my AC on already. Last year I don’t think I used it until June. Our weather is sure unreliable anymore. It used to be we could count on it being pretty much the same every year. Time moves on, and all things change. Enough philosophy for now…I think I’ll go knit!
I “stumbled” (are any of you familiar with StumbleUpon?) into a website that has oodles of art by Alfons Mucha. (pronounced Moo-ka) It doesn’t have a thing to do with stitching. But for me, stitching is only a part of my love of pretty things and my appreciation for those who create beauty. I’ll be adding some of Mucha’s work from time to time—and I’ll add other things that I think are wonderful enough to want to share them with you, too.
She is looking at a magazine…and it could have inspired her to want to go and create something of her own as soon as she finished posing for this painting. I’ll bet Mucha wouldn’t have had much patience for models who were impatient to get up and leave so they could go stitch! ;o)
